Local Veteran Receives a Free Roof
Local veteran, Dixie Pettit, has been selected as the recipient of Streamline Enterprises’ “Roof for a Vet”, a program launched by the Lansing roofing company.
“We are incredibly proud to announce the kickoff of our inaugural Roof for a Vet campaign! We received many worthy nominations from our community, but could only choose one deserving individual.” said Collin Scott, Owner of Streamline Enterprises.
The selected nominee, Dixie, is a genuinely compassionate person who has devoted her career to serving our nation in the U.S. Army. She is a program manager at the Army Community Services Center for the Great Lakes Recruiting Battalion, helping Active Duty Soldiers and their families throughout Michigan’s Lower Peninsula.
She continues to make a significant impact as a program manager with Veteran Affairs, where she helps veterans and their families access vital resources, including housing, transitional careers beyond military service, and mental health support. Streamline Enterprises Inc is eager to install a brand new GAF roofing system that will protect and secure Dixie’s home for many years to come.
Streamline Enterprises chose Dixie Pettit as the winner of the “Roof a Vet” campaign due to her remarkable dedication to military service and her steadfast commitment to helping others. A Michigan-born Army veteran and military spouse, Dixie has dedicated her life to advocating for soldiers and their families, supporting over 1,200 individuals as a one-person resource center within the Great Lakes Recruiting Battalion.
Nominator Mandy Bloomingdale said “Ms Dixie helped our family through some very significant struggles. She advocates for justice. My husband would not be alive today if it wasn’t for her. She moved mountains to save him and get him the care he needed. When my husband was in a civilian hospital with no way out, Ms Dixie came to the rescue. She went far beyond her normal duties and came and rescued him from the grave. I know he wouldn’t be here today if she didn’t make calls and flip tables over to advocate for a soldier in need. Ms Dixie is a true American hero with a heart of gold. We are forever grateful!!! This would bless us so much if she was chosen. I can’t think of anyone more accepting of this incredible gift.”
Dixie is celebrated for her generous spirit and her behind-the-scenes efforts to safeguard the veteran community. Streamline Enterprises selected her to demonstrate that a life devoted to others deserves recognition and support in return. She embodies the essence of generosity and dedication, making her an inspiring choice.
She bought a fixer up home, signifying a new beginning for Dixie. “I moved here during the housing craziness, therefore ultimately settled on a “fixer-upper” near Hawk Island Park. More than anything, I desperately need a new roof (garage and house) because the insurance company will not insure the house because of the roof.”
The property needs extensive repairs, including a new roof. Providing Dixie with a new roof will enable her to qualify for home insurance. Streamline is honored to offer Dixie the new roof she truly deserves, ensuring her home remains a safe and secure haven for someone who has sacrificed so much for others.
Streamline Enterprises will be installing the new roof in the Fall of 2024.
